AirLIFE flies two kinds of missions: emergency out of hospital responses and critical inter-facility hospital transfers. In emergencies, AirLIFE is dispatched by the 911 system after a first responder (EMS, fire department, sheriff’s deputy, police officer, state trooper or other authority) has determined that air transport is needed.
Based on proximity and other activity, the 911 system determines which air transport service is most appropriate. Guardian Angel membership covers missions flown by AirLIFE and its reciprocal partners, CareFlite and HALO Flight. Ground ambulance or missions flown by other air ambulance services are not covered.
